Cascades of Rastoke, Croatia

Rastoke is a lesser-known Croatian village located roughly 30 km north of Plitvice Lakes National Park. Although it is less traveled; this hidden locale is officially part of the national park system, and designated as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. While the idyllic views of the falls at the water mill are the main attraction at this location, consider taking a closer look at this hidden gem as you explore the mossy canyon beyond the falls and the museum located within the mill. The falls at Rastoke feed into the robust rapids of the Korana river that rush below. Consider spending a day to enjoy all that this river had to offer. Enjoy the local cuisine at a small shop in town that offers river trout caught fresh daily. Rafting and kayaking the Korana is also an exciting way to round out a visit for the more adventurous traveler.
